Socks

Afternoon all,

I don't know where the time goes, but yet again I am behind on showing you my projects.Whoops!

There was a point where I had quite a lot of lovely handmade socks , just perfect for the colder weather, but they all seem to have come to the end at the same time. In the last couple of weeks I have been stash diving and today I thought I would show you my latest sock making endeavours.

The first pair were Skimmer socks .I saw a gorgeous pair on IG . I found a free pattern on Ravelry . They are toe up which as a general rule I don't like as I usually hate the Tunisian Cast on. However it all went very smoothly and the little socks were an exceedingly  quick knit which used very little yarn which makes them perfect for using scraps. One friend suggested that they would make great stocking fillers as they would be great for slippers on Christmas morning ( good plan , not sure it will be this year) but would like to make more at some point.

The pair I am making at the moment are Hermione's Everyday Socks . Another free pattern from a designer on Ravelry. I had thought about giving these as a present, sadly I think I have made them a little short in the toes for most people. The pattern although nicely written doesn't have many measurements so I was unsure how long the toe would be. My guesstimate was a bit off . It is not a problem they are a perfect fit for me. I do love the pattern and think it goes really well with the variegated yarn. So pretty! What do you think?

Till next time

A❤️

The Rowan Exchange!

The info about the Rowan Exchange came through last week. This time a blog has been recorded in the person's details, and I have taken to lurking on a new site, very difficult for me as I feel I have to comment on everything! The information I have is that I am working for the season Autumn and the person likes socks. I feel a bit of a fraud giving socks as a present so I really have my fingers crossed on this one. The pattern I have chosen is a Heartstrings pattern, Beaded swirl socks. I thought the lorna's laces yarn in red rover looked most like Autumn leaves. The beads are a Rowan bead in a copper colour. The person I am knitting for has got larger feet than me so I have had to ask around to find a friend with the right size feet. I just found such a person ( a real friend she just measured her feet on the doorstep!)so I now have the measurements and am ready to go.I am really looking forward to starting these but the first job is winding the skeins into balls Urgh!

Jingle bells..........I think the teachers are gonna hate me!

Well here are the first pair of jingle bell socks. I have promised a pair each to the other two smalls in the house. This whole venture may have been a mistake as they are incredibly loud! The proud owner of these says she is going to wear them to school on the very next non-uniform day. I shall expect the phone call of complaint from her teacher about lunch time. She also plans to wear them whilst on roller blades. I think that is probably quite a good thing to wear them for - everyone will hear her coming

one little sock!

Isn't it cute? I finished it yesterday but I shall have to cast the next one on tonight or I shall be tempted to cast some on for my little girl. When I was in harrogate last weekend there was a lady knitting bells into her socks the same way you would knit beads in. She was planning on using them for belly dancing. I bought some bells (plus quite a lot of other stuff) and I shall use them on socks for both of my girlsI think they will look really lovely.

The socks are finished!

Well these were supposed to be a little suplement for when the butterfly became to much instead they became really enthralling. Anyway they are finished and everybody wants a pair. They fit Elenya so she is really keen on owning this pair. hmm maybe if I am feeling very generous she can have them.
