one little sock!

Isn't it cute? I finished it yesterday but I shall have to cast the next one on tonight or I shall be tempted to cast some on for my little girl. When I was in harrogate last weekend there was a lady knitting bells into her socks the same way you would knit beads in. She was planning on using them for belly dancing. I bought some bells (plus quite a lot of other stuff) and I shall use them on socks for both of my girlsI think they will look really lovely.

Juno is finished!

Well here it is. I had a bit of a love hate thing going on with it whilst I was making it. At one point I was worried that it really was to 80's and I was gonna look like something out of bananarama. Anyway now it is finished I think I shall wear it. I hadnt realised how short in the body it was. Today has been really too cold to have my tummy exposed. So unless you are under 5ft I suggest you add a couple of inches to the bottom.
I have cast on two more things today a pair of socks for my boy in opal elemente and another cardigan for me in Debbie Bliss alpaca silk Dk (more blue green I am afraid) which has been on the waiting list since last xmas.

Nearly Finished!

Well an update on the cardigan. The actual cardigan took me a week, I had planned to wear it down to london to meet my cousin Carmel as she arrived from Canada. Unfortunately I didn't realise how long the collar would take or how much we would chat over two weeks. It was very boring to knit and there are a ton of mistakes in it because it was so boring, I couldn't face pulling it back. Anyway I only have the buttonbands to do now and putting it together so I shall wear it when I go to the knitting and stitching show in Harrogate at the weekend. Hmm can't find the leads for the camera so you will have to wait until tomorrow for a photo .........might be a finished one then to.

This weeks project...

I went to a Rowan Coffee Morning at John Lewis at the Trafford centre at the weekend. They were showing all of the knits in the latest Rowan book. Needless to say I came back insired and decided to knit this one. It is supposed to be knitted in wool cotton doubled which I couldnt really afford to do. I am knitting it in stash Rowanspun Dk doubled hopefully I have enough otherwise I shall do a contrasting colour for the collar.

My Oldest UFO is finished! Long live the Oldest UFO!

Well this is the reason I havent been around for a couple weeks. I am not sure exactly which Christmas my parents bought me this tapestry but, we know it was before I had any children or indeed was thinking about children so we think about 13 years this has been on the go. The only thing that actually needed doing was the leaves but I was put off because the canvas wasn't very clearly printed. Anyway it is finished now and I shall make it into a cushion for the living room. Might have a look at some of the other UFO's I have chucking about and see if I feel inspired.

And the butterfly.................

well this is a far as I have got so far. The chart is making me nervous I have to admit but I have my exam next wednesday so hopefully after that I will have the energy and concentration for the butterfly.
Well least all the beads are on the yarn I think it may make it take a lot longer to knit as I will have to keep stoping to move them.

The socks are finished!

Well these were supposed to be a little suplement for when the butterfly became to much instead they became really enthralling. Anyway they are finished and everybody wants a pair. They fit Elenya so she is really keen on owning this pair. hmm maybe if I am feeling very generous she can have them.

Opal Socks

Various people have told me what fun these are to knit. So on Thursday evening when Mario asked if I wanted to watch a movie and then promtly put on a really old and tedious black and white war movie......... I looked on the AngelYarns web site and treated myself to a kit. It arrived yesterday morning and this is what I have accomplished so far. I think it looks great but I am a little worried about getting the stripes to line up on the next sock. If anyone knows exactly how it will work let me know. I am stopping now in order to do a bit on my Butterfly.

How I spent the weekend

Well here is a photo of the little christening suits that I have been busy with all weekend. They will be picked up this afternoon so I hope that they are liked. I have to say I dont think the trousers will be very comfortable as the fabric is a really scratchy bridal. oh well not my problem I supose. The other thing I have been busy with is spikey the hedgehog. I thought that he was dying yesterday as he caught a chill. We sorted that out with a towel , a hot water bottle and a sugar solution for him to drink. Today I realised that his leg still wasnt better even after a week of antibiotics and constant cleaning from me. So back to the vets we went and saw a lovely lady vet called abbi who lanced the abcess that he has had since last week and the other vet couldnt be bothered with. She got rid of his tick which I couldnt seem to shift and sexed him. It seems that spikey is a girl ..............maybe we should have called her something else!

Finished the butterfly frill!

It has to have been the slowest thing I have ever done. The dress is supposed to have a double frill but mine isnt getting one as I really can't bear ever to cast on the frill again. I guess that means that my plans of making the top as well wont ever materialise. Anyway I am really hoping that the rest of the dress takes a lot less time. It would be nice to wear it sometime this year! I shall start it in the next few days after I have done two little boys christening outfits they have to be made by next week and so does my assignment so it will be all go this week.

khama

What goes around comes around. I have always kind of thought this might be true and now I know for sure. A couple of months ago "Come, butterfly with me" was put my way. A little message on it was that a girl in Argentina wanted to do it but couldnt get the book. Ten minutes to do a photocopy on my part brought someone really lovely into my life. So thanks to Khama I now have Carla and some wonderful gifts just for a photo- copy. Anyway thanks Carla I really love my gifts.

catalogue man

Well I finshed my beloved's sweater on Friday during the day for a surprise for when he got in from work. Only for him to have doubts about the neck line when I showed him so, I unpicked it at made it longer so that it was a proper polo neck. It is a mixture of patterns from Kim hargreaves a Seasons Tale, I hadnt really realised before that the designs are all on a standard block but that is clever and a useful thing to know for changing things about for the fussy members of this family! Anyway here it is in catalogue pose funny heh?

Ribbing

Just a quick update, I have been too busy for knitting this week. Last night I was in Borders bookshop in Leeds. I saw this book it has a beautiful pink dress in it which would look great under the butterfly. I didnt want to take it around the cinema with me but I shall definately have to have it sometime soon!Today however was my knitting circle so I started the front of Mario's jumper. I would have liked to do some on my butterfly but I didnt feel i could spend the whole afternoon shushing everyone.

Ahhhhhhhhhh

Not knitting or sewing related I know but look who has come to live in our garden. The kids are feeding him catfood. I am hoping that he will stay and eat slugs but I think he is going to get spoilt for a diet of cat food!

holiday knitting

Well I didnt get as much done on my butterfly as I wanted. Every time I got it out somebody had to talk to me!But it does look pretty so far, I am making the dress definately but I am still undecided as to whether I want to make a double hem frill or not it. I am really not sure that it needs it but I will put the two that I have together when they are finished and decide.
The up side is that I made the back and two sleeves on Mario's jumper no mean feat as he is 6ft4' which is xl + a little bit by rowan standards. I would have liked to have made a patterned one but the yarn was a bargain end only 1100 g so I darent risk it, maybe next time.

Lace

The last two days have been taken up with kids activites. We went to see the Ant Bully today the kids enjoyed it. My enjoyment has been starting the lace for my cardigan. Lace making takes lots of concentration i.e no chat this means I am managing a pattern an evening only. This little piece took me two whole evenings. I am gonna have to take something else besides the cardigan and the butterfly on holiday .............hmm something i already have on the go perhaps or maybe something new!

Here are couple of pictures of the kidsilk haze and the beads that I am gonna use in this project. It was a toss up between this colour and a pinky red. Did a bit more on my sleeves last night so might finish those sometime soon!

Guilt!

Carla asked why I hadn't started the Butterfly if it was too hard. Well it might be I havent really looked properly at the pattern. No it is because I am trying to finish some of what I have on the go, I started this cardigan two weeks ago and I really want to wear it. It is a Rowan pattern but the yarn is patons 4ply cotton£2.65 for 100g on Ebay. The colour is called foxglove and it is a real match for the colour, I checked as my foxgloves faded. I am going to finish the sleeves and then take the borders on holiday to do. As soon as I finish the sleeves then I will start threading the beads for butterfly.

The shawl is finished

Well the post lady arrived with the beads but, I was good. My Darlings were well behaved and I finished my shawl. Not sure exactly how long it has taken me, about a month I think. It is the second one since May, one for the Rowan Exchange and one for me!
It still needs blocking but you get the idea.

To Start or to Finish?

Today is the day that the Butterfly Along starts, trouble is I cant make up my mind whether or not cast on the tension square imediately the beads arrive through the post or finish some of the things I have on the go. The compromise is I shall carry on edging my shawl until the post lady comes. Arent I good?
